Nicole A. Milam

Nicole Milam, founder of Milam Law Collective, is a trial attorney whose practice is devoted to criminal and family matters.

Nicole is a skilled attorney dedicated to thoughtful representation. Nicole’s background in criminal law and specific experience in jury trials and testimonial hearings, has taught her to prepare each case with a trial mind from day one. This not only benefits the client long-term in the event their matter does go to trial, but it also helps facilitate thoughtful discussions along the way during alternative dispute resolution settings such as mediation. Because the areas of family and criminal law often intersect (particularly in protection from abuse and harassment matters), Nicole’s background equips her to offer strategic, compassionate, and assertive legal counsel tailored to each unique situation.

Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University, where she focused on child development, neuropsychology, and clinical psychology. She earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, where she served as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic and interned at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, DC. Prior to starting Milam Law Collective, Nicole worked in Cumberland County practicing family and criminal law then went on to become a partner at a well established civil litigation firm in Portland.

Nicole knew that there was a better way to practice law: only a handful of clients at any given time, engage in thorough trial preparation from day one, and personalize each and every decision made.

Originally from rural New Hampshire, Nicole now lives in southern Maine with her husband, daughter, and their two cats and one dog. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, cooking, and exploring Maine’s vibrant restaurant scene. Nicole also volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors at the Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Cumberland, ME.
